This first thing to remember is that you have to be consistent in whatever method you choose to use. If you are constantly jumping back and forth between different methods of praise and techniques, your dog will become either frustrated or bored- neither of which facilitate memory retention. Try to find one way that you plan on sticking with through out his training to save you on both time and stress.

This will make your dog look forward to learning new things, as well as make him less likely to get distracted while you are trying to teach him something. If you notice that he getting frustrated with a particular task, try stopping for a little while and taking a short break. You can choose to resume after the break or the next day, just try not to cram too many consecutive sessions into one day.!

Because dogs strive to please their owners as best they can, it’s important to offer him lots of praise for the things he does correctly.
